Eh?

I have tinnitus. I hear a constant high pitched tone in both ears, with the left ear louder. The volume will change, and when it's quiet, the "ring" can be distracting.

So, why am I writing about this? It's distracting me today, which it does occasionally. I'll eventually push it out of my thoughts and ignore it once again. Until then, it's aggravating.

  1. You and me both. It has to be quiet to bother me, which is probably why I've always got something running, whether it's the boob tube or a fan.

Too many straight pipes and just generally noisy machinery in my misspent youth.

  2. I've had it so long I really don't notice it much anymore. Once in a while it will cycle louder, and I'll look up and ask H, "Do you hear that?" "Hear what?" "That high-pitched sound." "Your dog-hearing's up again, huh?"
    Dog-hearing. Yep.

  3. I do not remember being issued hearing protection when being taught full auto M16 use.
Between the tinnitus and the "floaters", I'm learning to be resigned to a lot of stuff these days.

  4. For all of you I recommend an OTC product called Lipo-flavonoid plus; Walmart carries it. I was skeptical too, but it does seem to work. My tinnitus had pinging and high pitched clicks and got too loud to ignore any longer. LF didn't completely kill it but it cut it down to a level I can live with.
