We Have Some Ice

A blast of Arctic air made it to just off the coast, which allowed the warmer air to continue aloft. The result is a mixture of frozen precipitation, with my area receiving freezing rain.

There are reports of snow, further up country, but we won't see any. The conditions aren't right, so we'll deal with frozen bridges and bitter, cold, wet weather.

  1. I'm sorry. I tried to keep the cold up here in MN, but it got away from me. Ironically, we are experiencing above freezing temps today. Everything is upside down.

    1. The system has been slow in leaving. With the low clouds, and frigid air mass, the ice isn't melting, since the temperature is still right at freezing.

The temperature is above freezing only a few hundred miles North.

  2. You KNOW it's cold outside when you go outside,
    And it's cold!

    1. We never broke freezing today, so the icicles are still hanging from the eaves.

Tomorrow promises temperatures in the low fifties and a big meltdown.

  3. We got into the fifties today - it was even bearable around here.

    1. The NWS expected the temperatures to reach above freezing, but the system was slow to leave, the air mass was much colder than anticipated, and the final high temperature was around thirty degrees.

The sun is coming up, the ice is something to see and the day promises to be warmer.
