Way back when, the Allman Brothers came out with the "Brothers and Sisters" album. Tucked away in one of the corners was the following song. It never had the "hit" qualities, but sometimes people don't really understand there's magic in the dobro; gentle tones, rattling notes as the bottleneck coaxes the strings, and the lure of the South to pull you away.
Been awhile since I heard that one.

Me too. The only drawback was finding the rest of the album was bad, and the money spent to listen to one song seemed wasted.

Little surprizes like that are lost on the current generation with their single download of individual songs on iTunes... we had to buy an entire vinyl album and WE LIKED IT! :) How else can you find these treasures? There is very little music I can listen to that originates in the last 20 years.
ReplyDeleteI think the work of many artists is lost these days. Gems of songs, probably not hits, are never heard, and could find many appreciative listeners.
