In Case You've Wondered

My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.

If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com

One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.

I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

Hiatal Hernia

I haz one. I didn't know it, until tests during a hospital visit, which revealed the hernia and explained heartburn that was becoming a problem. Medication for GERD stopped the heartburn, but either things have changed, or something new has developed.

For the last few days, it's felt as though I swallowed a large pill and it stuck in my throat. Added to this annoyance is occasional hiccups, which only aggravate the discomfort. So, I'll watch the symptoms, see if they disappear, or make plans to pursue treatment.

It's hell getting old. It's definitely not for sissies.

  1. Hope it's nothing serious.

I always have looked forward to getting old. Being short, cute and having a high pitched voice tend to get you overlooked in the serious or wise departments. I like the grey hair and the wrinkles that demand a tiny bit of respect if for nothing else than as proof that I didn't fall off the turnip truck yesterday. However, what I don't like is how my traitorous body diminishes the euphoria with aches pains and strange ailments. I agree that part of getting old is rather Hellish.

  2. It wouldn't be so bad if things didn't wear out. The senior discounts are nice, although it's sobering to get them without asking.

Today, things seem better. Maybe having a sore throat, and inflammed sinuses, aggravated the hernia. Time will tell.

  3. Years ago, another apprentice thought he was having a heart attack and was taken to the hospital.
    Hiatal hernia.

  4. I'm thinking it had more to do with a virus than the hernia. I've had sore throat and inflammed sinuses, which I'm thinking irritated and caused the problem.
