Some really dangerous radioactive materials were stolen earlier this week in Mexico. The material, Cobalt 60 pellets, is a radioactive source for all types of things, but most importantly, it's deadly. Handling the stuff will lead to radiation poisoning, which is a really unpleasant way to go.
Long story short: Thieves stole a truck with the material, opened the containers and the pellets were found in a field near the abandoned truck.
Justice may have been served and it's a capital punishment.
In Case You've Wondered
My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.
If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com
One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.
I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

THAT would be the best case scenario, and since it looks like most if not all the cargo has been recovered, we can assume that THIS TIME we dodged a nasty dirty bomb. We can concentrate on closing the border after some professionals get involved... we probably have all the time in the world.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I found you via Not of This World and I enjoyed your blog preamble... I make S#$t up all the time too! :)
In the right hands, the pellets could have caused a lot of damage. In the wrong hands, the damage is substantial. From what I've read, two of the suspects are very sick, which means they probably won't last a month at best. The others will have problems for the rest of their lives.

ReplyDeleteOkay. You get all words that start with the letters q, z and x.
DeleteWhen the thieves decided to steal that truck the trespassed on the truck owners private property. I don't know about Mexican trespassing laws, but if you trespass on my property in my state you have no guarantee that the property is safe you you to be on. I bet it sucks to be the thieves, and I bet it REALLY sucks that they have time to reflect upon their mistake and suddenly realizing that living a
ReplyDeletelife is a one and done proposition. Yup, that's harsh, but it's reality.
The current news is flaky on details. Considering one of those admitted was vomiting - which is a sure sign of severe radiation poisoning - the cover-up is beginning and we'll never really know the entire story.
