The news has been full of reports, with speculation, about the disappearance of Jamaii Khashoggi. According to the latest information, he was murdered after he entered the Saudi Arabia consulate in Istanbul, Turkey.
There are some gory detail emerging, but all in all, the narrative doesn't fit. Why would an accomplished hit squad do their dirty work in a consulate? That alone makes me wonder how this event was ever such a newsworthy item, until I thought about how the subterfuge of international politics can be a nasty effort to use conjecture to influence opinions.
None of this makes much sense, and the U.S. media coverage makes me think they're complicit in a deliberate effort to harm the Saudis. While I don't trust the Saudis, I trust the media, and the government of Turkey even less.
In Case You've Wondered
My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.
If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com
One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.
I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

ReplyDeleteI think stupid things are sometimes performed out of desperation.
Deletekashoggi was no mild mannered reporter. he was such friends with bin laden that same called him personally to let him know that he was starting a group called al queda. kashoggi used his marketing skills to leverage a position with al jazera where he spewed forth aq propaganda against the saudis. when aq went down hill he joined muslim brotherhood and continued mission. yes, his death was engineered to harm the saudi prince, the new one that has been kicking ass and taking names ala trump. making saudi great again, draining the corrupt royal family swamp. haven't heard crap about the massacre in crimea in the propaganda media either.hmmm.
ReplyDeleteHe's more useful as an unsuspecting martyr. While he's thinking he can make a difference, his death is more important to his handlers.
DeleteTurkey under Erdogan is not our friend. I don't doubt that the Saudis would be this audacious and think they can get away with it.
ReplyDeleteMaybe so. The brutality in the Middle East isn't known for its subtle nature, and the death sends a clear message.
