I know many are suffering a heat wave, but summer is winding down. It's due to physics and there's nothing we can do to change this.
How do I know this? Personal observation. When the mornings are cooler, the afternoons aren't as hot, and the days are obviously shorter, summer is well on the wane.
For me, it's relief. For others, it's preparing for brutally cold weather, which we don't have.
For those soon to endure winter, may it be mild. It's equal to our brutal summer, with dismal, dark days.
In Case You've Wondered
My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.
If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com
One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.
I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

Can't slip anything past you, huh. I bet when your head gets wet, you know it's raining. Hey dude, I love ya. I think I found you a long time ago.
ReplyDeleteNot sure where you're located, but in Hernando, Florida, we can smell the fall in the air. Coming up will be the ONLY time I appreciate living here. When my sister is talking about the freezing rain, sleet, winds, and snow, I'll send her a photo of me in my t-shirt, jeans and sandals.
Other than that, I hate, hate, hate it here.
Joy, you really need to quit the Florida bashing....you know, many of us are natives.
DeleteWet hair? Rain?
DeleteI know my post appears like I'm pointing out the obvious, but I've ended up shaking my head at some people the last few days. I'm guessing they're unwilling to admit the long days of heat are over.
I'll call it denial, instead of dumbassery.
Stephen, hating Florida is based on where you're at in Florida. The medical care is what makes me hate this particular region. I'm in seriously bad health, but the doctors here are not familiar with the proper treatments, and most are not available to me.
DeleteI pray each day - bring on the cold. I love it.
ReplyDeleteAfter 39 years of being in the heat all summer, it doesn't take much of a cool breeze to make me think of autumn and hope for an early arrival.

DeleteStephen's "cold" will be different than your COLD Jess. lol
DeleteFor us in New Mexico, it's been a pretty mild summer. No where near the number of plus 100 days of heat as the last few years. Maybe the drought is breaking.
ReplyDeleteDroughts suck. We've had a better season than the last two, with the worst two years ago. Even trees were dying from lack of water, which is a rare occurrence where I live.
DeleteAside from the heat and humidity of this week, summer in Minnesota has been pleasant. I so look forward to autumn, for I think it is the most beautiful season here, with the leaves turning colors and the skies a rich blue and the air crisp and cool. It is my favorite time of the year.
ReplyDeleteI worked with a man from Minnesota. His description of summer was almost amazing, since it almost resembled what we call winter.
DeleteHang in there. In a few weeks, you'll be wanting to add some heat in the morning to break the chill.
Late fall, just before winter hits - my favorite time of year.
ReplyDeleteThere's nothing that compares to crisp, clear mornings, when there's a faint hint of wood smoke in the air, and the azure skies are filled with brilliant, orange cirrus clouds right before the sun rises.
