In Case You've Wondered

My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.

If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com

One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.

I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

Of Scotsmen and Heritage

The bagpipes are seldom spoken of in a positive way. Still, I like them and the music that's played on the odd instrument once made from the skin of a sheep. It's part of my heritage and I can feel my ancestors calling when I hear the songs.

Enjoy, or not.

  1. Yep, if one has the least bit of Scottish blood and the skirling of the pipes doesn't touch your soul, there is something wrong with ya.

    1. Age brought a taste for scotch whiskey. It's finer than the best of bourbons and a good single malt is nectar of the gods.

  2. I can not attest to the taste of scotch whiskey, but I can to the sounds of the pipes. My first known ancestor to reach these shores came from Scotland in 1635. I don't know if any others in my family have a love of the bagpipes, but I do.

    1. I think it's almost an admission of not being human if you're not moved by Amazing Grace on the bagpipe.

  3. Good stuff, I enjoyed that. I am half Scottish myself, and love some of the folk music. If you have never come across them, a band founded in the seventies and active until the late eighties are highly recommended. They are called 'Silly Wizard'.. I was reminded of them listening to this. 'The Queen of Argyle' is worth a listen on youtube.

    1. There are few places in the world that I find more intriguing than the Highlands of Scotland. I need to place a visit on my bucket list and not wait until I'm called to join my ancestors.
