Well, it's here, so I'm starting the year by making a pot of beans. This batch will be great northern, with smoked sausage.
This is what they'll look like. The taste you'll have to imagine.
In Case You've Wondered
My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.
If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com
One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.
I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

I won't have to imagine the taste. My pot of beans is simmering this morning, with ham. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
DeleteIt was a family tradition to have Black Eye Peas for good luck. I don't like those, so I made what I like.
Looks good, sounds good. Like Vicki, my wife will be utilizing leftover Christmas ham.
ReplyDeleteWhen we were children, my mother could get stretch days of meals from a ham. She'd have it for supper, make sandwiches for lunch and eventually boil the bone in a large pot of beans.
DeleteWe ate like royalty, as far as I am concerned.
Leif just walked by as I was visiting and said, "Hey, did you put a picture of my ham & beans on your blog?"
ReplyDeleteLooks good! He might just whip up a batch later.
Happy New Year.
They bring you luck. I know you never heard of that, since I just made that up, but they do.
DeleteHappy New Year!
Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteYou too. May it be one of your best years.
DeleteShoulda been a cowboy! Now I know where the farting on the elevator reference comes from.
ReplyDeleteCaught me, although I did soak the beans overnight. Hopefully, the sulfur compounds won't awake me with their aromatic fragrance.
