In Case You've Wondered

My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.

If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com

One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.

I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

No Air Conditioning for You

Some Texas guards and inmates want air conditioning. They say it's dangerous to be exposed to the heat and it's inhumane.

Here's a reality check: I work all day in the heat and I pay for the prison system. So, they can all go suck eggs. I don't have air conditioning; they don't have air conditioning. It's that simple.

  1. Good grief! I'm a grandma who lives in a city apartment whose air conditioning has been down all week while temperatures have been higher than they have been all summer. I survived just fine. Bunch of sissies!

  2. The prisoners are not in the sun, aren't forced to do labor work and the guards knew what they would be exposed to when they were hired.

They're suing, from what I can see. If they lose, the attorneys and plaintiffs need to pay all the bills for their foolishness.

  3. This one is waaaay too easy to fix - for the cons, DON'T do the crime if ya can't do the time (all due apologies to baretta) - as to the guards, indeed they knew what they were signing up for.

  4. I'm fairly certain that there is a clause in the Constitution about the rights of air conditioning.

Unfortunately I don't remember that right when I was a kid and no one had air conditioning. Maybe I should sue someone.

    2. We had an attic fan for years. During the day, it circulated hot air. At night, the fan pulled in the cooler, humid air and any bug small enough to fit through the screen.

We eventually had enough money for my father to install wall units in both ends of the house.

  5. Plus, they don't have to work. Just complain.

    1. If they work, they get to buy stuff from the commissary. From what I know, most do work.

In Texas, the prison system grows its own food and crops for textiles. There are plenty of shops for manufacturing, repairing and maintaining the things they need. That's the way it should be.

  6. I sympathize with the guards, because their job is hard enough. The prisoners I could give a rat's ass about. They should consider themselves lucky they're not working outside in the fields in the Texas summer heat.

    2. The guards have access to air conditioning, if they feel they need it. Prisoners, if they have health problem, are treated in air conditioned facilities.

As far as the general population, their work is like my work: "Off your ass and on your feet; out of the shade and in the heat."
