In Case You've Wondered

My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.

If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com

One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.

I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

Daylight Saving and Darkness

It's looking like they'll make Daylight Saving Time permanent. It's a Summer madness, with the long days and light in the mornings. Winter will be different. Northern states will find they're navigating morning traffic, and their children waiting for school, is in what most would consider the night. We'll see how this future debacle will unfold, but I'm not thinking it will be pretty.

Thoughts on 6/23/2026

Tech stocks are not doing well. It's the typical stock market game. Buy low, sell high, and hope you didn't wait too late for either. It doesn't matter if the money keeps jobs, or helps a company to continue offering a needed service, or good. That's not important, and the shifting of capital sloshes like the bilges of a ship in a storm.

Foreign visitors are having their preconceptions of the U.S. changed. They find most people are friendly, the food is good, there is prosperity to be seen, and regardless of the media, the majority of U.S. citizens don't eat their young.

Congress is in the process of committee examinations of affordability for citizens. Like all committees, the donuts will be fresh, the coffee good, and the freedom to waste hours without repercussions relished like a cool rain on a hot day. Of course, they'll ignore the real solution has been available for decades, but they would have to close the nation's wallet and stop wasting money on credit.

The reflecting pool is still offering hours of reflection of its importance in the grand scheme of things. A report will be available on most news channels. Nothing new, but it's really nothing in the first place.

Judges are still ignoring their duties, attorneys are still cluttering up the courts, and you can find relief from both by calling the number on the commercial. They'll help you as along as there is some money to be made. Otherwise, don't waste your time. They don't care for you, and tee-off is at 10:00 am.

The number of medications with acronym descriptions is almost mind-boggling. Whether you have PMS, ALS, GERD, IBS, or any other affliction, ask your doctor if it's right for you. Watch out for allergic reactions, liver damage, kidney damage, an increase in strokes, early dementia, rare cancers, or a infection between your anus and genitals that can be deadly.

Reflecting Pool Thoughts

Apparently, the large reflecting pool in the capitol was probably a mistake from the beginning. From what I've read, it's leaked from the beginning, when it was completed  in the 20's. It's been through a few renovations, and all (from what I know about concrete retaining structures) were more of trying to make chicken salad from chicken shit.

Concrete leaks, and any attempts to refurbish concrete that has been saturated for a long time is a process that can't be accomplished in a short period of time. With a constant infiltration by ground water, the process is even more onerous. Considering the size of the pool, the cost of lasting repairs, and the constant filtration required to keep it clear, from the beginning, it was a blunder, along with a huge waste of tax dollars. To make things worse, regardless of what happens between those that hate Trump, and the Trump Administration, it will continue to be a blunder. Even if it was filled in, and grass planted, it would still be a costly piece of real estate requiring costly maintenance.

I don't know why this pissing contest has struck a nerve with me. Maybe it's the fact the national debt is something more than a small worry, and pissing off money on egos is something that doesn't make sense to me.

Ultimatums and Idiocy

Apparently, a substantial number of the staff at 60 minutes have written a check with their mouth their asses can't cover.  It's called insubordination, and it doesn't have to be tolerated. Contracts will be examined, and they might still get paid, but nothing says they have to be allowed at work. May their departures be noteworthy.

F.O.D.

I knew someone that was in the Naval Reserve years ago. He would have a two week duty every year, and his specialty was working on jet engines. Sometimes part of the engine would come in enclosed, with F.O.D. written on the enclosure. This meant "foreign object damage", and would detail the cause, such as rocks, or birds or one that caught their attention: "Human F.O.D. That one wasn't repaired. The odor was enough to ensure it was considered unsalvageable, and it was disposed of.

Apparently, someone snuck onto a Denver runway, and a commercial jet sucked them into the engine, which caused it to explode, and a subsequent fire caused the occupants to be evacuated on the runway. I call it death by jet, and wonder what was on the mind of the unfortunate victim. I'm sure the engine will be replaced, and what's not salvageable disposed of.

I saw a video of the accident. The person climbed a fence, sauntered out onto the runway, and directly in front of the starboard engine when the video ended. It was as though they were oblivious to where they were. Maybe so. The jet would have been traveling at near 200 mph, and someone not aware of their surroundings would have only moments to get out of the way.

Dumb, and Staying That Way

A brewery owner offered free beer when Trump dies. That's dumb, but after a visit by the Secret Service, he posted the agent's name, and phone number, with a message to tell him to stand down. That's more than stupid, and now he faces charges for doxing. He may be a shrewd brewery owner, but I doubt it. Somebody that doesn't realize their brand is dependent on all customers may find they lost too many by stupid actions. With the possible additional costs for attorney fees, or a criminal prosecution, he may find bankruptcy is in his near future, and his family may abandon him for being so dumb.

Trying to Make Some Sense Of It

The Strait of Hormuz is open, and then it isn't, and then it is, and then it isn't....it's never ending. Some report say we bombed Iran's military out of existence, and others state there's so many hiding places, small boats, and armed military, it's almost impossible to find them all. With nobody really knowing who's in charge, the best description is it's total chaos.

What will happen next? More corrupted intelligence will appear, large insurers will have bowel problems, the U.S. military will continue with thinking you can win a war by cherry-picking targets, NATO will continue to be a money pit, Europe will sit on its hands, China will threaten, Russia will threaten, North Korea will launce some missiles into the ocean, fuel prices will remain high, Australia will be low on fuel, Democrats will continue trying to destroy the United States, the media will continue publishing propaganda, and Iran will be another huge pit where billions are thrown into the building of bombs, so they can be dropped into the pit. It's good times for arms manufacturers, oil producers, politicians, and terrorists. The rest of the world will just have to suck it up and continue watching the madness.

Artemis 2 Reentry Velocity

I was wondering why the Artemis 2 reentry velocity was so high. A little googling informed me of the reasons. One is the fact using the Moon to slingshot it back to Earth leads to a higher speed. Another is it saved fuel, and the most concerning: To test the heat shield....which generally doesn't yield good results when it fails.

The reentry is forecast to beat Apollo 10's record of reentry speed. That speed is right at escape velocity, which (if my ignorance is correct) will mean only one shot at reentry. Otherwise, a miss will mean a gravity assist from Earth, and the capsule will be flung out into space.

The astronauts are in for the ride, and I have to admire their bravery/recklessness. Their are no mistakes with this mission, and all have terrible consequences. May God be with them.

2026 - A Space Oddity

Of all the things on a spacecraft, one of the most important things is a functional toilet. News reports state the toilet on the Artemis capsule is malfunctioning. Nine more days to go, no way to shorten the voyage, and no port-a-potties available. It's like riding in a van with four people for ten days without a commode. I wouldn't want to be downwind when they open that hatch after they land. Hopefully, someone saved some Walmart bags, hid them onboard, and there's some place to store the packages....I wonder if they have a jettison hatch for such occasions?

Health Paradox

From what I've read, the manipulation of time to satisfy a multitude of obscure reasons isn't good for your health. Our health is important. If you don't believe it, look at the billions spent on advertising health products, government printings for your health, gymnasiums in just about every town, health food stores, health products online, insurance wellness demands for your health, and research on health. Health is important, unless it involve Daylight Saving Time. If it disturbs your sleep pattern, causes lethargy during the day, upsets you schedule, gives you heartburn, and causes irritability, then you just have to nut up and deal with it. Your health isn't that important, unless it involves anything other than when your clock tells you what time the sun rises.

I'm Sure It Can Be Fun

I've watched curling on television. I'm thinking some of the viewing was Olympic events, and maybe on the old ABC Wide World of Sports. It looks like it can be fun, and the closest thing I've ever done that is similar is "corn hole", which is played with bean bags, and slanted boards with holes, although it's much warmer of a game, brooms aren't allowed, and there's little danger of falling on ice.

From what little snippets of news I've seen, there is some type of alleged cheating in the Olympics by curlers. I'm not sure what the cheating involves (And I'm not really that interested to research the articles), but the best solution is to have them fight it out. Let them brawl on the ice, serve beer to the spectators, and give the winners a banquet. Serve smoked brisket, potato salad, ranch style beans, and coleslaw. Invite the losers, and nobody give them a hard time.

How Much is Enough?

While there isn't an amount reported, it is reported some of the protesters/agitators in major cities are being compensated for their time. It make me wonder how much is enough to get people to endure the weather, spend their time protesting something they don't understand, and create problems that only make their position less tenable. When the most ignorant decide to partake in throwing things, or burning something, there is real danger involved, and with all mobs, the least that can happen is to be injured by those trying to run from the police, or a dangerous situation.

I don't know what the amount is, but know it's not enough. Push too hard, trigger that final nerve on someone you've frightened, and the result will be some small projectiles much deadlier than the asphalt found on the edge of the pavement. Regardless, when it becomes bad enough, some citizens will take to their roofs with weapons, fire on the mob with impunity, and there will be nobody to collect the money promised for being stupid.

A Special Brand of Dumbassery

From reading some news reports, Governor Tim has basically declared war against the United States. When that was tried in the middle of the nineteenth century, there were a lot more people on board with the idea, but the outcome wasn't good. Even if he managed to get a substantial amount of Minneapolis to back him up, I doubt he could get even 1% of the citizens outside the city to join his side. Calling in the National Guard to keep the peace while the protestors continue preventing ICE from doing the job of removing illegal aliens is a foolish wish. The name "National Guard" doesn't describe Governor Tim's personal armed force because he decided to put on a crown. How do I know? It's the word "national". That doesn't describe "state" or "personal security".

So, my suggestion at this time is to cut to the chase, announce insurrection, secure the state records before Governor Tim burns them all up, and start the prosecutions. Does that sound harsh? Of course it does. Harsh is something people like lying, pieces of crap politicians understand. I almost would pay for a video of them frog walking Tim Walz into jail.

We're Not The Same

I don't know why so many are unwilling to admit the experiment of a mass influx of foreigners will never be good for any country. With the United States, our culture isn't paralleled anywhere else in the world, and with some foreign countries, our ethics are completely alien. They don't understand why we keep so clean, demand respect, treat our women as equals, don't steal, or our concept of law.  The amount of time for just a few to assimilate is in decades, and the financial drain of millions of foreigners is untenable.

So, what is the solution? Send them back...all of them. They're not here to become citizens. They're here to game the system, steal when necessary, carry on their primitive cultures, and turn the United States into a third world hell-hole.

So, How Much Did They Feed Them?

According to this article, soybean oil may cause obesity.  Maybe it does, but maybe they fed the mice a half gallon each every day, with a pack of cookies. That would make them fat, and help continue the funds for research.

Lack of Accountability

I've been reading reports about how SNAP money was being paid to illegal aliens, with some being transferred to other countries. That's terrible, but what is most terrible is the fact those in charge of the money allowed it to happen. To me, that's treason. Regardless of whether there's a declared war, or not, giving aid to foreign countries at the harm of the United States economy can be described in no other way.

The Best Solution

New York City elected (and I use that term loosely) a new mayor that is not only not qualified to do anything but sharpen his criminal skills, is a Moslem Marxist. Whether the elections was corrupted, or not, the city needs to have all U.S. funds removed, and the state of New York completely responsible for the bastard child of destruction. Let the hair fly with the hide, and televise the reactions when the city is exposed as a hive of grifters.

Time, Money and Common Sense

There are roughly 342 million people in the United States. If 30% spent an average time of one minute changing their clocks, that's 102 million minutes of time spent adjusting clocks. That's 1.7 million hours of what I consider wasted time, and wasted money, if the adjuster is being paid. Common sense says such things are stupid, since an easier solution of manipulating when people go to work is to change the arrival time. Of course, that requires common sense, which Congress, bureaucrats, and a substantial amount of citizens are lacking.

The Hunt Is On

The likes of Antifa are finding their backs aren't covered by the government. To make things worse, they are finding they're now hunted, there is no escape, and their traitorous acts to usurp the laws of the United States are not be congratulated by the liberal media. Next, they'll find their financial support disappearing faster than their protected status. Financing terrorism carries penalties as tough as practicing terrorism.

The Streets May Become Safer

After risky loans to illegals, a company is going bankrupt. From personal experience, removing the vehicles of illegals is a good thing, and this is a step in the right direction. Besides the drain on the economy from bad loans, no insurance, never handling traffic violations, and ignoring common decency have also been a result. Getting them off the roads will increase driving safety. It amazes me the company was allowed to function at all.
