Paying for Dreck

 I was thinking of how so many media outlets now charge a fee to see their dreck. It's bundled with other dreck, and for the little actual worthy content, the trade-off is the dreck is financed regardless of the harm it causes, or the ignorance that is expounded by pretty faced people that are as clueless as a bucket of horseshoes. You can have it streamed on your phone, and social media is filled with whatever piece ( however chopped up) that supports whatever distorted view is being promoted. 

Ignorance Can Hurt

 I was reading an article about a CNN reporter that was hit with a rubber bullet fired by a police officer in Los Angeles. Considering the orchestrated media coverage, how many individuals are videoing the mayhem, and how any police officer wouldn't have the time to differentiate rioters from media, wandering into the melee is pure madness. Ignorance can hurt, and it seems many in the media are afflicted with this ignorance. 

It's Been This Way A Long Time

There's some irritation, conjecture, finger-pointing, and denials about Joe Biden having advanced cancer. Pundits, and experts, are theorizing on how long it was known, and how the media was silent. It's no different that when FDR was in such poor health, he required a wheelchair most of the time, and few citizens knew about it, while the press kept quiet. It's the game of using the power of the pen to determine policy, regardless of how the power wielded by a compromised important officials can be used for personal purposes. 

So, He Bails

Biden is dropping out, which is no surprise. At the rate he was going, his ability to utter two intelligible words was an iffy thing, and even his supposed supporters were clamoring for him to leave. Harris is the supposed new candidate, which if things go like I think they will, will assume power after Biden is deemed unfit to lead. This will allow a glimpse of her "remarkable" leadership qualities to promote her electability. That, or they will pull a rabbit out of the hat, and come up with someone new who the media will promote to a level unseen in history. 

This is all theater. Thinking there is an orderly election process going on is unreal. It's a production, we're the audience, and the cost to watch is way too expensive for my budget. 

It's All In The Context

Texas, and I assume most states, have laws against elderly abuse. Basically, when an elderly person is exploited, or abused, whether physically, or mentally, there are criminal charges applied to the actions of the abuser. Otherwise, if you use an elderly purpose for power, or gain, such as presenting them as sound of mind when they aren't, and knowingly know your actions may not reflect their whims, it's illegal...unless they're President and you have the media helping with the criminal activities.

It's a Lot Like Prositution

Prostitutes advertise their wares, push for the deal, and exchange money for sexual favors. So does the media. The most sensational, graphic, or shocking story is used to lure viewers, so they can be entertained for a few minutes, and after the event, the media is looking for more "John's" to pay the bills, and keep the ratings high.

The current hurricanes are a good example. With the approach of Harvey, the media was constantly showing forecasts, people trying to evacuate and trying to keep their ratings up. When it struck, the initial reports were on Rockport, Texas, which received the worst of the landfall damage. As the storm moved toward Houston, and the flooding began, Rockport was forgotten, and the new sensational news reports were aimed at showing the devastation of the water.

Now we have Irma. All the Harvey damage is almost forgotten, and someone is suffering in Rockport. Their life is ruined, they have few resources, and they're wondering how they'll survive. They feel forgotten, and they are. They aren't "sensational", and the media could care less about their suffering.

Meanwhile, in the ivory towers of network television, those without a clue continue their efforts to keep the ratings up, and turn another few tricks for the pimps that sign their paychecks.

Fried Chicken, and the Alphabet Networks

Years ago, a local fried chicken restaurant opened. I visited right after the opening, and was impressed with the dinner.

About three months later, I decided to return, so I did, but things were different. The chicken was still good, but not impressive. The same could be said for the side dishes. I chalked it off to a bad night for the restaurant, and didn't visit again for about another three months.

When I walked into the door, the smell of burned grease was apparent. My initial reaction was to turn around, and go back out the door. Instead, I gave them the benefit of the doubt, and decided someone overheated a smaller fryer, and the chicken would still be good. I was wrong.

The chicken was far from tasty. The taste of burnt oil was strong, and the chicken was overcooked. I didn't eat much, and decided I would never return.

As it turned out, even if I wanted to return, I only had a few days to do so. The restaurant closed soon after my last visit, and it was obvious to me why it wasn't successful.

My experience with the restaurant is the same as my experience with the alphabet networks. While they may have offered something worthwhile in the past, they now offer very little, and any news is corrupted by personal opinion, fabricated stories, and outright personal attacks to promote a liberal agenda. So, I don't watch them.

The networks shouldn't be surviving, but they do. Enough know their agenda to make a huge difference in their revenue. The only reason I can see for this is the willingness of people to continue their daily meals of burned, fried chicken  Whether it's from ignorance, or some foolish desire to have access to one favorite item doesn't really matter. It's ridiculous, and they'll continue to be fed crap, until they decide to change their behavior.

Gone Too Far

CNN threatened someone that created a video that ridiculed the network, which they found to be offensive. Their threat included "doxing" the individual, which is making public information that is not available without express permission. To a casual observer, unaware of such things, CNN crossed the line from insulted, to criminal behavior, which is a felony in every state, and at the federal level. Considering the report the person they're verbally assualting is only 15 years old only makes it worse.

At this time, enough feel CNN went to far, and the clamoring for retaliation against the network, and their sponsors, is appearing all over the internet. While CNN may recover from their action, the network will never be the same. Revenue will fall, viewership will tumble, and their staff will find they are not welcome in enough places to severely reduce their ability to report the news.

Personally, I haven't watched CNN, or any of the alphabet networks for decades, so my distaste for their brand of "news" hasn't had much of an effect on a network that misrepresents facts, or creates what they call facts, to promote an agenda.

Maybe it's time for more people to boycott the network, and its advertisers. While this seems like a terrible thing to many, the past reveals this is just more of the same unethical, corrupt brand of journalism practiced by the supposed journalists at CNN. This isn't the first time the network crossed the line, and it won't stop until they're made accountable.

So...We Have a Special Council

Robert Muellor was appointed as special council to investigate the suspected link between the Trump campaign, and Russia. That, and anything else that happens to pop up during the investigation. The latter is where the fun starts.

I was around during the Watergate fiasco, and once owned the book "The Right, and the Power -The Prosecution of Watergate" by Leon Jaworski. It's an interesting read, and would probably have been a good reference before the Democrats started clamoring for a special prosecutor. That, and reading about Koreagate, which Jaworski also investigated. Some of the loudest may find the investigation wandered into their own little corner of the corruption, and suddenly realize they not only exposed, criminal charges may soon follow.

So, here we go again. Days, weeks, months, years of conjectured, meddling, constant theories about the investigation from those subpoenaed, absolutely no real news, and some revelations that will give many in Washington D.C. nightmares. This will be a long ride, but a good civics lesson.

Underwear in a Knot

Many in the media are starting to whine about being the focus of Trumps irritation.  I'm thinking they'll need some Xanax; especially after more of their lies are exposed, and some reporters are banned from briefings.

It's a good start. The dishonest, goal oriented media is probably the biggest problem the United States needs to address.

Twenty Four Hour News Cycle

Finding news in the current news cycle is like picking through manure for kernels of corn. Thirty seconds of news is all that's found after hours of conjecture, speculation and editorial opinion. Facts are abbreviated to fit a narrative, and distortions are presented to sway opinions, or achieve ratings.

I really don't know how a journalism student would want to pursue such a career. The highest achievement is hot lights, too much makeup, and the ability to read a teleprompter without mispronouncing words. It's an ignoble quest without substance.

The Reality the Media Ignores

Much of the media is parading Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush as the contenders in the next Presidential election, while they ignore how neither represents the majority of the U.S. taxpayers and how both have political ideologies that cause concern.

A strong leader emerges during such times. The common promotion of this leader was once found on television and in the written press. That's not the situation any longer, and the strong undercurrent of dissatisfaction with the direction of the U.S. is reflected in the huge internet community. It's there the next leader will emerge and the media will either embrace the will of the majority of the nation, or find their slide into economic despair will accelerate.

Reasonable Expectations

When I was young, police officers were respected. I'm not naive and believe there weren't any corrupt officers back then. Most of them, just like today, were honest, decent people that took their job to heart and wanted to preserve the peace of a healthy society.

Today, due to the efforts of the media and special interest groups, there's an effort to portray law enforcement as a rogue group, with tyranny in mind. It tears at the fabric of our society and the intended perception is unfounded by facts.

The riots in Ferguson, New York City and various places around the country are not happening to express a grievance for the lack of a forum to express societal concerns; they're criminal mob events, with violence and unbridled criminal lust. The few involved with actual concerns are far outnumbered; they too become victims of assault and robbery, while showing their ignorance and unwillingness to examine facts.

It's a reasonable expectation to demand the crime of rioting is suppressed as soon as it starts. Mobs of people become out of control and revert to savagery. Any hope of political discourse disappears and people with good intentions become prey. Innocent business owners lose their life work and entire communities start the slow process of withering away.

Police officers are hired to stop such crimes and trained to protect not only the victims, but the criminals too. When they're hampered by errors in reporting facts, or an unwillingness of a few citizens to disperse, the anarchy that follows destroys what took generations to create. The sacred peace of a community disappears and the cancer of crime slowly destroys what remains after the rioting.

I blame media outlets for many of the problems. They portray rioters as credible citizens with a right to assemble for changing a supposed problem. The actual problem is a lack of civility and ignoring the basic laws that allow people to live without the fear of becoming a victim of crime. Rioters are criminals and the media that continues fanning the flames is culpable in the criminal acts. They have nothing to lose; ratings are what they seek; and they can leave without their own lives being affected. That's wrong; they should be held accountable by society and their own peers.

What Do You Think It Will Take....

...for the cheerleaders in the media to finally put up their pom-poms and pull their heads from their asses? It's embarrassing to watch the reporters, pundits and supposed experts wander completely away from logical thinking and cover for an administration that should be ending with over half of the cabinet in jail.

If our society was smarter, a few large media outlets would have "for sale" signs on the front door, their staffs would be praying they'd find another job, and some would be trying to get out of the country before anyone found where they lived.

Punk Broadcasting

Cliven Bundy had some remarks that some people found unpleasant. Considering some of the reactions I observed today, the supposed purveyors of free speech, tolerance and liberty are punk broadcasters; worried their good reputations, audiences and cheerleaders will disappear.

Some of the talking heads acted as I would anticipate. Others, who I once respected, waved their asses and only proved to me they're addicted to public adulation like it was crack.

So now, Cliven Bundy is the bad guy; even though he stood up to illegal government actions and harassment by the liberal news media.

Screw 'em. They're cowards and can join the other people I refuse to watch on television, or listen to on the radio.

It Might Just Be Me

I try to watch news programs, but soon turn the television to the best channel, which is off.

It might just be me, but I find the perfect hair, business attire, makeup, mock seriousness and complete lack of a basic grasp of reality insulting.

They have high paying jobs, bask in their self-importance and are as far from the nuts and bolts of our society as the Earth is from Mars. They don't represent our society, have degrees useless in making things happen and abuse the privilege of using a public forum to do things that are good for our society.

It's drek, and they've become inconsequential wastes of precious resources.
