In Case You've Wondered

My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.

If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com

One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.

I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

Perspectives

An entire small factory explodes, and after a few hours on the news, it's mostly forgotten. Meanwhile, there is tremendous hoopla about the hostages being freed. Out of all they took, only twenty came out alive. Palestinians are now fighting among each other, which is how it always starts. They fight with each other, one group becomes the big dog group, they terrorize their citizens, the terror group amasses money, the money is used to attack Israel, Israel steps in, the current group of terrorists are mostly eliminated, and it all starts over. Will there ever be peace? Sure, but one side has to be decimated to the point there is little left.

Inflation is being taken under control...or not. Out of my multiple decades of watching this show, it will never be under control, unless some drastic measures are taken to reel in the ass-clowns that are elected to perform their particular form of grifting. Their grift is a small percentage of the thievery, but they manage to convince those that help them steal elections their share will be worth the effort to enrich those slipping the money under the table.

Some cities are refusing to accomplish one of the most basic of reasons people accumulate in one place. The crime they allow, and promote, guarantees someone will find their short trip to the corner store will not be a pleasant experience. To add insult to injury, illegals are sucking up public funds, and attacking the officers trying to round them up for deportation. The city officials are not only condoning the actions, they're promoting the violence. Trump wants to have the military return the peace. I wouldn't. I'd just cut off access to the city, declare it a disaster zone, make anyone wanting to travel to the city go through a checkpoint, and wait for the reaction. It would take less than three days for the cities to straighten up.

The United States government is shut down...kinda...not really. It's the dog and pony show that happens when the grifters try to perpetuate their current grift. Some type of arrangement will eventually be made, the expendables will be announced, the deficit spending will continue not being addressed, and the machine will continue its laborious clanking purpose to finance those with few scruples, with plenty of waste. The increasingly ignorant will still not have a clue, but will fight for their place at the public trough.

Insurance costs are rising. The exact reasons are never really clear, but there's money to be made on those that have enough to try and pay the costs. Those on a fixed income don't really have a chance. The elderly are most affected, since their income is eaten by inflation at a rate that constantly places them further behind.

There's more, and I'm just preaching to the choir, but I feel better by complaining. It doesn't do much, but as they say: "It ain't rape if you don't scream."

Now What Happens?

If a man in a wheelchair in Podunk writes a nasty letter, calling for mayhem, and sends it to the President, they'll kick down his door, go through everything he has, probably arrest him, and make his life miserable. Comey posts a photo of his desires written in shells, and he'll probably just get a phone call. That's what justice has become in the United States. Until those with connections are held to the same standards as citizens with very little, there is no justice, and regardless of what your "betters" tell you, that's the way it is. That's why those Epstein bought are still not in jail. That's why judges get away with breaking the law. That's why outright slanderous calls for violence by the media are ignored. That's why people are fed up with the justice system.

What Does Logic Dictate?

Logic can be cruel; especially when there are so many good things envisioned, but if you examine the current state of affairs, and look into the past, you realize how things will probably turn out.

- None of the Clintons will be prosecuted. If they are, I'll be very surprised.

- Epstein's records, if there are any, will never be revealed. There's too much money, too many willing to kill someone for a few thousand dollars, and too many powerful people involved.

- Those convicted, or still in jail, for the January 6 staged event will find there isn't much help. Their lives are still ruined, few have that charm needed to wow audiences, and book deals will never happen.

- The economy will chug along, inflation will never be tamed, and living on a fixed income will become increasingly more difficult. The up side is those most vulnerable will die the fastest. Their suffering will be limited.

- The "deep state" will continue with their shenanigans. They have too much dirt on those in power and will never let them take away what they've achieved. They let those that allow their actions to stay in power, continue with growing their fortunes, and cover their butts.

- Illegal aliens will continue to cost money. Regardless of the easiest way to get rid of them, the most expensive, most "compassionate" method will be chosen regardless of the harm it causes to U.S. citizens.

There's more, but it's obvious to most folks. Those most needing to be removed from society will continue to flourish, morals will deteriorate, and the best solutions to solve the worst of problems will never be undertaken.  I know this is a cynical appraisement, but until there's something that shows this isn't the standard way these things happen, I'll hold to my opinion.

Now...How Do They Fix It?

The hype is thick, the boundaries are being set, the entrenchments are being dug, and the battles will start. Meanwhile, how are they going to fix the damage? People still are facing the expenses that became unsustainable, inflation has decimated wages, those on a fixed income have absolutely no hope of relief, and too many people are insulated from the damage they created, or participated in. The wise are saying it will take time, but many don't have that time. So, how are they going to fix it? I see very little that will be done, and it is making me furious,

It Almost Makes Me Want To Laugh

Local news can be enlightening. One report has a woman running from police, after a road-rage incident with a gun. She was eventually stopped with spike strips, and the police found meth, a pipe, and a loaded .22, which she earlier pointed at another driver, which led to the chase.

In another unrelated story, another women, after being stopped for questioning about a fraud complaint, took off in her car, led police on a long chase, and was stopped with spike strips. Since two states were involved with her criminal activities, she will probably have some explaining to multiple judge.

Meanwhile, the city where I was raised is having a problem picking up the trash the citizens pay dearly to have done. From the photos, it's not the household trash, but the old appliances, furniture, big items, and other things that rats love to nest inside. Efforts to contact those in charge by the local media are ignored.

They finally caught the wienie-wagger that was seen at the local university. His picture is shown for all to see and remember. They showed his face. I wonder if they made him drop his pants for a line-up.

The usual number of car wrecks are noted. Usually, the article states witnesses reported the driver driving too fast, or recklessly. I've worked on highways. The number of really bad drivers would make most people want to stay home, and I'm a little surprised about the low number of serious car wrecks.

Too many restaurants giving up is a clear indication the rosy reports of the economy are crap. That, and from my experience of buying a $4 dollar meal for $20 at Sonic, more will follow.

There's plenty of other interesting reports, but I have a feeling I could look at the local news for just about anywhere in the United States and find similar stories. Maybe it's a sign of the times. I hope in a few years I can look back and laugh.

A Challenge

I don't watch sports. I've played, competed, like the idea of moving about and have no problem with the people that do. It's one of those preference things. I have other things I'd rather watch, when I rarely watch television.

I liked the show NCIS. It was a favorite and I'd watch every Tuesday if the opportunity arose....until I started being completely pissed at the broadcast networks and realized the exist because I watch.

So, I quit watching. I refuse to contribute in any way to the alphabet networks because of their participation in the degrading of the Constitution. Most probably do so in ignorance, but that doesn't matter. They're accountable and I can't forgive them for the likes of Dan Rather and Walter Cronkite. Both I consider as traitors and a less polite society would have punished them for the transgressions.

One of the broadcast networks will broadcast the Super Bowl today. They'll reap millions, the NFL (anti-gun by the way) will reap millions and they'll do so with the willing participation of those that have been harmed most by the result of their efforts.

I don't have elaborate on what my challenge is. I think it will be ignored and the rationalization will  be thick on this one.

Good luck. The United States is in a terrible predicament due to apathy and the unwillingness to do the the little things that lead to the big ones.

I Avoided It, But...

....it won't leave my thoughts and I have to write it down.

I was driving down a four lane highway, with a continuous left turn lane this morning. Two cars were a few hundred feet ahead, with no other cars in front for over a half mile.

Suddenly, I spotted a small black dog in the center of the highway. Neither car slowed down and the car in the right lane, ran over the dog as it tried to return to the shoulder.

It bummed me out. Both cars could have slowed down a tad and the dog would have made the shoulder. Neither stopped.

I returned to the site and checked the dog. It was dead and the injuries were horrific. Since it was off the shoulder, I left it there; with the thought of how someone would be sad that evening. There was nothing to do and some family member would eventually return to recover their loved pet.

I went through this about ten years ago. We had a big, female, black mouthed cur adopt us on a construction site in the middle of nowhere.

She arrived one Monday; ribs showing and abandoned. Someone gave her a sandwich, we bought some food and she became the defender of our temporary yard.

She liked me. I would feed her, make sure she had water and would pet her every chance I had.

She guarded the yard and wouldn't even let some of the crew into the yard, unless I was there. She had found a home, and I was determined she would have something more permanent when we left; even if it was my home.

I didn't cry, but my heart was broken when I found her one afternoon. She'd wandered onto the highway and was hit. Her back was obviously broken, so I knew it was quick. Still, I couldn't get over the sorrow for days. We buried her in the back of the temporary yard.

I missed her after that, and still do. Her last sanctuary was something as simple as a construction yard in Nowhere, USA and I wondered who could be so cruel to leave her without regret.

Sometimes people suck, life sucks and everything seems to suck. I had moments today, when I felt things were just that way. I guess it's part of life; the part I don't like.

Oh The Horror

A snippet from the NHC report:

"...THE TRACK FORECAST BEYOND DAY 2 HAS BECOME PROBLEMATIC. DYNAMICAL
MODELS DEPICT THE CYCLONE MOVING INTO A BREAK IN THE SUBTROPICAL RIDGE NORTH OF THE GULF COAST IN ABOUT 72 HOURS. HOWEVER THERE IS A LARGE SPREAD AMONG THE MORE RELIABLE TRACK MODELS. FOR EXAMPLE... THE ECMWF FORECAST IS ABOUT 300 N MI EAST OF THE GFS SOLUTION AT DAY 3. SINCE THE DYNAMICAL MODEL CONSENSUS HAS SHIFTED WESTWARD...THE OFFICIAL TRACK FORECAST IS MOVED A BIT TO THE WEST OF THE PREVIOUS ONE. THIS REQUIRES AN EXTENSION OF THE HURRICANE WATCH WESTWARD ALONG THE LOUISIANA COAST. IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT THERE IS GREATER THAN USUAL UNCERTAINTY IN THE TRACK FORECAST..."

I highlighted the part that means nobody is really sure what happens in two days, which is the time this critter will find some place to go ashore.

What happens? The local Emergency Management officials start preparing to send everyone down the highway, where they spend lots of money, find they're the prey of thieving hotel owners, criminals, unscrupulous businesses and face the possibility of being hit by a tornado in the small town they end up hundreds of miles from the coast.

You can't win. Everyone is doomed.
