In Case You've Wondered

My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.

If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com

One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.

I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

What Would Happen?

Considering around 50% of the population is sucking on the the public teat in some form or another, and not paying income tax,  what do you thing would happen if the money just ended? No more giveaways. All federal employees that manage these money pits laid off and an immediate 30% reduction in all Federal taxes.

I think it would be ugly for awhile; mostly in the inner cities, but eventually, the balance would return. Those that don't produce would starve. Those that do would be more charitable, since they have more money and the money grubbing politicians would have substantially less money to steal. Otherwise, the economy would become robust, the Federal Government would be weaned to the level the founders envisioned and many no-ass thieving slugs would get what they deserve.

Brutal Heat

The heat the last few days can only be described as brutal. By 8:00 in the morning I'm soaked with sweat and it doesn't dry until I'm on the way home from work.

After I get home, the only thing I want to do is sit, bathe and call it a day. So, that's why I haven't been writing. I have little inspiration, no initiative and the longing for a cool Autumn day.

Summer is Hanging On

Summer won't let loose this year. The temperatures are typical August temperatures with high humidity.

Currently it's 79 degrees with a relative humidity of 98 percent. This afternoon the temperature is forecast to be in the mid 90's with a humidity around 60 percent. The forecast for the rest of the week is the same. Saturday is supposed to be a day of change, with a cold front approaching and the promise of some rain.

I'm ready for the change of weather. Summer has been brutal this year and my aging body is suffering. It takes days to recover from one long day in the heat and the next 4 days will be involve at least ten hours in the heat each day at work.

I Really Dislike Yaupon Trees

Yaupon is a member of the Holly family of trees/shrubs. You can look it up with a search engine, since I dislike the plant so much, I refuse to publish a photo.

So why do I dislike the Yaupon? Since it's a native plant, it is a plant of opportunity and finds fence rows a wonderful place to grow. Not only does it grow fast, it's thick, the roots will sprout and getting rid of the brush is a task that requires a chain saw, brush hook and a strong brush killer.

This morning, I attacked a section of neglected yard. Yaupon had taken over, so I braved the 90+ temperatures and high humidity to accomplish my attack. After cutting the bushes to the ground, I applied a liberal amount of shrub killer on the stumps as soon as they were exposed. Hopefully, this will work, since spraying with Roundup only stressed the tree. If not, I'll be doing this again, which is something I don't relish.

I read that people actually by yaupon and plant it in their yard. Why? Because they're crazier than a shit house rat.

On Some Days I Feel Like Writing

Today isn't one of those days. I have a lot of things to do and little time to do them. Maybe tomorrow I'll have some inspiration. .
