In Case You've Wondered

My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.

If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com

One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.

I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

Some Thoughts

One nagging thought I had during the entire campaign was "business as usual" would prevail, things would plod along and - when the wheel fell off - it would be further down the road. The wheel fell off last night and I'm thinking the repairs will be by those willing to work. The riders, since they'll be the first kicked off, will grumble, kick some dust and threaten, but will still be left behind.

Another thing: I feel most people are good, honest and want to do the right thing. Over time, if they're aware of things that are wrong, their conscience gets the best of them, and they speak their mind, or reveal things that just aren't right. With that in mind, I'm thinking many of those that have been silent will refuse to be silent any longer. What they reveal will not be good for those that choose the wrong path.

There are a lot of things wrong with the United States, but there are more things that are right. The system isn't broken; it needs some maintenance and I have the feeling it will start soon.

The Dark Cloud in the Silver Lining

I know many of the Obama voters are clueless. Also, due to ignorance, many are thinking of how things will become better. What most don't realize is that after January 1, 2013, everyone will have a bigger slice of their paycheck going to Social Security. Another thing: everyone will pay more in income taxes, since the temporary tax cuts prove their temporary status and end.  Otherwise, in a depressed economy, the purchasing power of anyone that works will decrease. To add insult to injury, there will be new penalties for those without health insurance.  The economic shock to the economy will be tremendous.

Now, this may not seem like much to many people, but the outcry will be more substantial than many realize. The result will be a deep feeling of betrayal and a realization that things aren't better. How this plays out will be interesting at best. More than likely, we'll go into recession, if not depression. Considering the amount of national debt, the devaluation of the dollar will continue and the added decrease in spending power of a paycheck will lead to some very pissed off people.

Hold on children, the ride may get bumpy. For those that voted for this madness, there is no forgiveness. The changes placed in motion may lead to things that you deserve. I'll enjoy your misery.

When Things Don't Work

I've dealt with public employees and bureaucracy during my life. In general, my perception is of feckless organizations that exist because most people don't spend the time to analyze how their tax dollars or spent or even question why their money is being taken for what is obviously substandard work and organization.

Most of the time, the problems associated with inefficiency, waste and corruption are perceived as byproducts of a system that doesn't have the resources to compete with the private sector's lure of better money and benefits. Maybe so, in the past, but that's not how it is any longer. The public sector is paying at the level of the private sector, even better at some levels, yet the problems are worse.

So, I'll end this post with some questions: With all the obvious problems with bureaucracy and inefficiency, do you  think they do any better with handling election results and counting votes? With the possibility of election results changing the nature of public functions, do you think public employees would either be sloppy with their task of counting votes, or deliberately mismanage their position for personal gain? Do you think many in the media would intentionally fail to investigate corruption to continue an agenda?

Think about the questions, answer truthfully and then decide what you think should happen to change things you don't like.

Today is the Day

So go vote, if you haven't already. Most of all, don't vote for anyone that is so much of a Democrat, they don't put their party affiliation on their campaign sign.

Lame Duck Madness

The EPA, fearing a Romney victory, is burning up money to finish restrictive coal regulations.

"...More than 50 EPA staff are now crashing to finish greenhouse gas emission standards that would essentially ban all construction of new coal-fired power plants..."

For those of you that work in the coal industry, manufacture equipment for coal fired electrical generation power plants, service companies, or rely on the electricity from a coal fired plant, the economic impact will hurt. You are being singled out by environmental activists in the private sector and the EPA. They're punishing you for their unfounded beliefs and using the government to terrorize taxpayers.
