After waiting nearly a month to see the doctor, he diagnosed my elbow problem in about thirty seconds. I have tennis elbow, a new brace that really makes a difference, and some peace of mind. If it cures the problem over time, I won't need a return visit, or any other procedure. If I had known a month ago what I now know, I would have bought one of the braces, skipped the doctor visit, and be ahead of the game.
In Case You've Wondered
My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.
If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com
One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.
I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

So, I Have Tennis Elbow

The brace will help but isn't a miracle cure. You will still need to limit usage of the arm for a while to allow the inflammation to diminish and things to heal.ReplyDelete
That's what my doctor advised. He want's me to lift closer to my body, avoid grasping with my arm extended, and wear the brace for at least 6 weeks. After that, if no improvement, we'll discuss the options.Delete
When I was a kid I could run 10 miles and then do 25 pushups, clapping in the middle. Now? I pull a muscle getting out of bed.ReplyDelete
Tennis elbow is for rambunctious youngsters full of piss and vinegar. I'll call it "old man moving furniture elbow". It's more accurate and explains the injury.Delete
A number of years ago, I had severe "tennis elbow" from years of pumping up my backpack sprayer at work My lifelong doc wrote a scrip and had me go to a brace place and hand them the scrip. When the guy handed me the little strap/brace, I was skeptical, to say the least. But, within 5 minutes of putting it on, the pain had almost completely disappeared. I wore it every day for almost 6 months and the pain eventually went away for good.Delete
The link below is only for informational purposes only and not an endorsement for the particular brace contained within. I hope your pain gets better.
I was skeptical of the brace, too, but after wearing it for the last few days, I'm a believer in how effective it is. I don't have gel pad in mine, but since I'll be wearing the brace for awhile, it's something to consider buying.Delete
