In Case You've Wondered

My blog is where my wandering thoughts are interspersed with stuff I made up. So, if while reading you find yourself confused about the context, don't feel alone. I get confused, too.

If you're here for the stories, I started another blog: scratchingforchange.blogspot.com

One other thing: sometimes I write words you refuse to use in front of children, or polite company, unless you have a flat tire, or hit your thumb with a hammer.

I don't use them to offend; I use them to embellish.

Lack of Something

It's an evening that is more than appreciated. The air is transparent, there's not a cloud in the sky, and the cool north wind brought the temperature to just above 60.

I stepped outside, looked at the last orange glow, and heard the coyotes on the hunt. It's something unknown to those that inhabit the cities, with bright glow of streetlights, and rumble of traffic. As I stood, the howls stopped, and resumed farther away, as they continued searching for they prey.

Too many lack something, which is hard to explain, unless you experience the part of the United States that isn't subverted by a society willing to give up even liberty in the effort to find a perceived security.

Those that understand will know what I'm trying to explain. Those that don't, will make a quick trip for some fast food, and watch a crappy movie on cable.

  1. Although I am now, sadly, a city dweller, my mind remembers nights on the front porch, listening to the song of the wolves coming from the surrounding forest and the eerie call of the loons across the lakes. Sometimes the twinkling of firefly behinds added to the magic of a night in the country. If old age gradually steals my memories, I hope this one is the very last to go.

    1. You appreciate what many find unimportant. It's tragic so many don't understand the importance of the rural life, and what makes it unique.

    1. There's nothing like the solitude of the boonies, and the wildlife that rarely ventures into the city.

  4. I don't have the sound of coyotes here in the country west of San Antonio. Instead, we have the sound of several donkeys. I heard that they were natural enemies...
